Why equatorial season is a different answer
Most ranking "Milky Way season" pages are Northern Hemisphere calendars (roughly 35°N to 50°N). They tell you the core is a summer evening target. That is true there. It is not the whole story at 0° to 15° latitude.
Near the equator:
- The core can reach higher altitudes than at mid-latitudes during peak months.
- Nights are shorter year-round. You get less astronomical dark per calendar night.
- Monsoon and ITCZ rain bands erase weeks at a time. Dew fogs lenses after midnight on clear humid nights.

- Core altitude is often the easy win. Weather is the hard gate.
- A month that looks "in season" on a northern chart can still be washed out by a bright Moon, coastal haze, or a rain band.
