Name the stars in a night-sky photo, or from the live camera. Matching runs in your browser, so the picture stays on this device.
Frequently asked questions
Does the photo leave this device?
No. Star matching runs in your browser. The photo and the camera frames are not uploaded.
Which photos can it solve?
Wide views with several sharp stars: a phone night-mode shot or a camera photo of a constellation. Clouds, heavy trails, and a field narrower than about 15° usually will not match. Moon craters, fisheye lenses, and camera RAW are not in this version.
What does the live camera do?
It grabs a frame every few seconds and tries the same match, reusing the last pointing when the camera has barely moved. Point it at open sky. Indoor lights are not stars.
